What We Could Do Now
I’ve been doing alot of brainstorming and none of the solutions or campaigns I put together seemed like it would actually help non-binary customers from getting the actual experience they deserve. Sure, social media campaigns and diverse models would plant a seed in the minds of retailers, but what about non-binary people? One of my professors sent me a hint that put me on a whirlwind of possibilities. Thanks to looking into the British Fashion Council and the recent “Metaverse” category added to the Fashion Awards 2021, the closest solution for us today occurred to me.
What if we created a virtual experience where users can create their avatar and design their preferred retail space and shop however they desire? What if we could interact with others and feel equal to everyone around us? What if we could have everything our way? The good news is, WE CAN and the better news is WE WILL. Even if retailers don’t agree to accommodate our needs. How will I get there? I suppose I’ll focus on how I’ll get Everlane there as an experiment. More to come….
